Preparing for your stay at Mecca

Preparing for a stay at Mecca Psychotherapeutic Centre is a significant step, both for patients and for the families who support them. This page outlines what to expect from the facility, what to bring, and how family members can stay involved throughout the recovery process.

Our Facilities

The centre's infrastructure has been designed to support both structured clinical care and restorative, day-to-day activities. Patients at Mecca have access to the following:

  • Spa and physiotherapy area for physical rehabilitation, relaxation, and overall wellness
  • Conference and entertainment room for psychoeducation sessions, group therapy, and recreational activities
  • Lapa, a tranquil outdoor space for relaxation and informal therapeutic interactions
  • A gym for physical health activities as part of a holistic approach to mental well-being
  • Garden, a peaceful setting that enhances recovery through nature-based therapeutic experiences
  • Library with access to educational and self-help resources to support personal growth and recovery

The facility accommodates up to 30 patients at any given time. Standard rooms provide a comfortable environment for recovery. Three high-risk rooms with capacity for six clients offer closer supervision for patients who require it. Two isolation rooms are available for the safe stabilisation of patients experiencing acute symptoms.

A Typical Day At Mecca

Structure is an essential part of recovery. Each day at Mecca follows a balanced routine that includes clinical appointments, therapeutic activities, meals, rest, and personal time. A typical day may include a morning check-in with the nursing team, scheduled psychiatric or therapy sessions, group activities such as occupational therapy or psychoeducation, physical exercise, time in the garden or library, and an evening wind-down period.

The clinical team adjusts each patient's schedule according to their treatment plan and stage of recovery. The goal is to create a rhythm that supports stability without feeling rigid.

What To Bring

Patients are encouraged to bring comfortable clothing, toiletries, and any prescribed medication they are currently taking. The admissions team will provide a detailed list of what to pack and what to leave at home. Electronic devices may be subject to facility guidelines, which will be discussed during the admissions process.

Visiting Hours And Family Involvement

Family involvement is an important part of the recovery process. Visiting hours and guidelines will be discussed during admission. The centre also offers family psychoeducation sessions, which are designed to help family members understand their loved one's condition and how they can support recovery at home.
